Hurricane Irene Update - Sat 7AM
This weekend's weather will about Hurricane---> Tropical Storm Irene

The models are consistent with the track of the hurricane up along the coast of NJ. While the hurricane is expected to decrease in intensity as it moves north and become a strong tropical storm, it is also expected to interact with a frontal system and jet stream to create possibly historic high rainfall. So while no roofs are expected to be ripped off by winds, record setting flooding and fallen trees will create emergency situations in many areas. Please refer to discussions from the National Weather Service for details.

With the current predicted track, wind damage and possibly record-setting flooding is likely, even in Philadelphia and western suburbs. Rain starts much earlier than previously thought- likely before noon today. The best place for updates is the National Hurricane Center.

Sat 8/27: Cloudy, with rain, starting around noon in Philadelphia. Heaviest rain and winds tonight into tomorrow morning. High 77.

Sun 8/28: Heavy tropical flooding rains, damaging strong winds and gusts early, then windy with partial clearing, maybe some sun, during the mid afternoon. High 78.
