Philly Weekend Weather- Hurricane Irene Update - Thurs AM
This weekend's weather wIll continue to be influenced by hurricane Irene.
Last night's models moved the track of the storm closer to the NJ coast. The models are in greater agreement with the track of the storm. That said, the models have all been somewhat off in predicting the position and intensity of the storm over the past few days, so uncertainty still exists. Nonetheless, the storm is large and its areal effects will overshadow small differences the track of the center.
With the current predicted track, significant flooding and wind damage is possible, even in Philadelphia, starting Saturday night. The best place for updates is the National Hurricane Center.
Stay tuned.
Sat 8/27: Cloudy, very warm and very humid. Windy. Chance of light sprinkles in the afternoon. High 84. Heavy rain begins at night
Sun 8/28: Heavy tropical flooding rains, damaging strong winds and gusts. High 79. This forecast is tentative and likely to change.
