FORECAST UPDATE

The rain that has been heavy Saturday morning will gradually taper during the afternoon and end this evening.   Lowering the high temp to 66.

A front moves through early Sunday morning.  Some widely scattered light showers still possible Sunday morning and cloudy conditions should give way brighter skies and sunny breaks in the afternoon.  There’s still a chance of a quick shower late in the afternoon.  Warm with a high of 82.

FORECAST UPDATE

So far, the forecast is going well.  The showers and thunderstorms have moved east and there should be a significant brightening of skies mid to late morning.  Still not clear how much sunshine we’ll get, but the cloud cover should thin considerably.

Expect dry conditions for much of today.  High temperature 77 with increasingly humid conditions.

A wave of low pressure develops just south of PHL late this afternoon and this evening.  Considerable instability will result in showers and thunderstorms, some heavy.  Expect the showers and thunderstorms to move in from the west between 5 and 7 PM and continue through the evening.

PHILLY FORECAST UPDATE

Broad Street Run Forecast Update-  We had a little more sunshine than predicted this morning.  I’m always glad to be wrong about this. Cloudiness did move in during the afternoon.

Some showers will be moving in Saturday evening.

For tomorrow, Sunday, the models continue with a break in precipitation during the morning hours for the Broad Street Run. Minimal precipitation expected in the morning hours (QPF< 0.01 inches water)  but rain returns after 2 PM.

It will be cloudy, cool with high temperatures in the mid 60s and a breezy north to northeasterly wind.

Break in PHL rainfall Sunday morning
Experimental GFS model-  Accumulated precipitation during the morning hours 8AM to 2PM Sunday. Most models keep the immediate PHL fairly dry in the morning hours.

While the operational models (NAM GFS)  maintain dry conditions in the morning, the statistical models maintain a chance of light precipitation during the morning. (12Z-18Z)
