Last night’s 1 AM run of the GFS model continues to show a major snow storm for the Philadelphia area,, with the usual caveats of somewhat less in southern NJ and more southwest, west and north of PHL.
Latest model trends shows the snow starting later (closer to sunset) Friday afternoon or very early evening and continuing to about daybreak Sunday.
The GFS snow algorithm shows 16-20 inches of snow for PHL area. The NAM model only extends 84 hours into the future, so I can’t give a snow total for it yet.
Unlike other snowstorms of recent past years (including the “fizzler” of last January), there is high model agreement and continuity with this potential storm. Still too early to really hang your hat on the exact snow totals, but a working snowblower would be a good idea to have.
