A cold front will very slowly advance towards us, arriving on Monday morning.
Ahead of the front, on Saturday, low pressure moving along the front to our west will bring us rain, mostly during the afternoon hours. The total QPF is not all that high, about 0.25 inches, somewhat more far north and west. No sun expected Saturday; it will be dark and dreary, but mild. High temp near 54.
Skies clear for Sunday morning, but it will become cloudy during the afternoon with highs near seasonal averages. High 44.
Christmas eve it will be cloudy and light rain will develop in the late evening, towards midnight. Temperatures near 40 Christmas Eve. An arctic front will move through before daybreak Monday, with winds increasing and temperatures dropping.
A coastal low is expected to develop off the coastline, closer to NYC and New England before daybreak Monday. Some transition from rain to snow showers will occur around Philadelphia, but it now appears that conditions won’t favor any accumulation— ground temperatures are too warm and wet. Additionally, the cold air influx will scour out any moisture, cutting off anything for snowflakes. (A different story for New England.)
Monday will be blustery and cold. A mix of clouds and sunshine, perhaps some flurries. High mid to upper 30s.
