REFS= Rapid Refresh Ensemble Forecast System. Still experimental, but under intense fine-tuning development in 2024.
The ensemble (group of models) is derived from time-lapsed versions of RRFS and the HRRR and runs every 6 hours at 00z 06z 12z and 18z.
Due to the fact that the experimental version is running on less robust supercomputers, each run is processed and completed 7-8 hours after each run.
