Canadian HRDPS = High Resolution Deterministic Prediction System model.
A very high resolution model (2.5 km) run four times daily at 00, 06 12 and 18z. It provides hourly forecasts out to 48 hours. Due to its high resolution and the extensive computing power needed to run it, it takes about 3.5 hours for each model run to become available.
The HRDPS is released as a ‘rotated grid’ instead of a standard latitude -longitude grid. To view the model, depending upon the viewing software, the grid often must be converted to latitude -longitude via post-processing.
