An AI, artificial intelligence, machine learning (ML) model that uses Google Deep Mind with the GFS to create forecasts matched on 13 vertical levels of historical weather data analogues in the “ERA5” forecast hourly database going back to 1979. The model is run to four times daily, every 6 hours and creates forecasts out to 384 hours.
Currently, GraphCast-GFS forecasts are only available 14 hours after the model run. Morning 12z forecasts (7AM EST) become available after 9:40 PM EST. They are served on NOAA’s AWS site.
Google has made GraphCast’s code open-source.
