HGEFS = Hybrid Global Ensemble Forecast System
A new (2025) hybrid AI statistical ensemble model consisting of 62 derived model variations (“called perturbations”) (60 perturbations and 2 controls comprise the ensemble) based on the AIGFS and the GEFS models.

The HGEFS forecasts in 6 hour intervals out to 10 days (240 hours.) The HGEFS models use the same database of historical weather data used by the AIGFS and being an ensemble, includes statistical standard deviations of its variables.

Currently, the both the HGEFS and the AIGFS have fewer parameters (e.g., no separate snow or cloud cover parameters) than the ECMWF-AI.
